President
muhammadu buhari has said the federal government will take responsibility of
the 21 chibok girls recently released by book haram extremist group. Mr buhari
said its indeed a happy moment for himself and all Nigerians.
“The 21
girls were released last week following negotiations between the sect, and the Nigerian government,
International red cross and the swiss
government played a mediatory roles in
the negotiations. The president said “ aside from rescuing the girls, we are
assuming the responsibility for their personal, educational and professional
goals and ambitions in life. Obviously, it is not late for the girls to go back
to school and continue the pursuit of their studies” - premium times.
On april 2014, a total of 276 female students
of government girls secondary schools, chibok were kidnapped by boko haram,
since then federal government have been trying to rescue the girls, few of them
escaped from book haram camp and in 2016 one of them was found
Mr buhari said “ we are equally as hopeful as
we are praying that the remaining girls in captivity will be released and
returned to us without any delay”.
